The Ekiti State Government and labor leaders have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the N70,000 minimum wage approved by the Federal Government.

Speaking at a brief ceremony in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, the Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, announced that the payment would commence immediately. She praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for initiating the payment despite the state’s limited resources.

Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman, Comrade Sola Adigun, and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Chairman, Comrade Olatunde Kolapo, commended Governor Oyebanji for prioritizing workers’ welfare.

They confirmed that the new minimum wage applies to all cadres, parastatals, agencies, and pensioners.

The Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) Chairman, Comrade Femi Ajoloko, described the adjustment as a fair deal and lauded the governor for his generosity toward the state’s workforce.
