The National Judicial Council has reinstated Judge Babajide Aladejana of the Ekiti State High Court after a 16-year ban.
Under the leadership of the previous Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alfa Belgore, Aladejana was placed on administrative leave in 2006 together with the former Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kayode Bamisile.
The two were placed on administrative leave for their suspected involvement in the political turmoil that resulted in the removal of the state’s previous governor, Ayodele Fayose. A reported N1.4 billion poultry scandal, official misconduct, and unauthorized use of a foreign account on October 16, 2006.
Aladejana did, however, formally return to work on Tuesday, according to the Daily Post.
The NJC assessment was followed by the lifting of his suspension.
He was then assigned to the Second High Court, where he would be hearing cases and carrying out other judicial duties.
