Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the ongoing governorship election, describing voter turnout as impressive and the exercise as largely peaceful across the state.

The governor made the remarks shortly after casting his ballot alongside his wife at Polling Unit 003, Oyebanji’s Compound, RA 06, in Ekiti West Local Government Area on Saturday.

While acknowledging reports of technical challenges in some polling units, where electronic voter verification devices experienced difficulties capturing some voters’ details, Oyebanji urged residents to remain calm and orderly.

He assured voters that no eligible person would be denied the opportunity to vote, adding that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had assured him that the issues would be addressed promptly.

“The report is positive and voting is going on smoothly. The turnout is also very impressive. I am happy that people heeded my call for them to come out en masse to cast their votes.

“I want to appeal to our people to be patient, because everyone will vote. I have received assurances from INEC that all those who came out will be allowed to vote.”

The governor also expressed confidence in securing victory at the polls, saying a successful outcome would enable his administration to continue implementing its development agenda aimed at accelerating the growth of Ekiti State.
