#EkitiDecides: Voters await INEC officials in Ado-Ekiti as accreditation delays voting in some units
Voters in parts of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, are still waiting for officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to arrive at polling units for accreditation and voting.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that voting activities were expected to begin by 8:30 a.m. in line with electoral guidelines.
At Ward 7, Polling Units 2, 3 and 4 in Oke Ila, voters were seen gathered as of 9 a.m. waiting for INEC officials and party agents to commence the exercise.
A similar situation was observed at Ward 6, Polling Units 4, 5, 6 and 7 in Oke-Iyinmi, where residents also waited for election officials to arrive.
At Ward 8, Polling Units 2, 3, 4 and 5 in Dalimore, voters were equally seen in large numbers awaiting the start of accreditation.
However, security operatives from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Corps were present to maintain order.
In contrast, Ikogosi-Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government Area witnessed early arrival of INEC officials and prompt commencement of voting activities.
At Polling Unit 003, Ward 6 in Ikogosi-Ekiti, accreditation and voting began as early as 8:10 a.m., with electoral materials delivered on schedule.
Party agents from the All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party, and other parties, alongside accredited observers, were present to monitor the process.
Security personnel were also deployed early to strategic locations, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere and restricted vehicular movement in line with election guidelines.
INEC officials were observed arriving early at most polling units in Ikogosi-Ekiti and surrounding communities, with both sensitive and non-sensitive materials delivered without delay.
Some voters commended the early arrival of officials in certain areas, expressing hope that the process would remain peaceful and credible.
Elderly voters and persons living with disabilities were also seen participating in the exercise.
Voting commenced at 8 a.m. at Okelele Ward 6, Unit 003 in Ikogosi-Ekiti.
