The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, has commended Governor Abba Yusuf for prioritising education, healthcare, agriculture, and security in Kano State.

The Emir made the remarks on Tuesday when he led members of the Emirate Council to pay the traditional Sallah homage to the governor at the Government House, Kano.

“We’ve come to pay Sallah homage and thank you for your outstanding work, especially in education and agriculture, where you’ve provided subsidised modern farming implements,” Sanusi said.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness another Sallah celebration and lauded the Kano State House of Assembly for what he described as their lawful actions in restoring sanity to the Emirate Council.

“We are hopeful that the governor will continue to do well, and we urge Local Government chairmen to follow his example and complement his efforts,” the Emir stated.

Sanusi also charged local government chairmen to be proactive in governance and remain accountable to the people.

“As you are closer to the people, it is essential that you do the right thing,” he urged them.

Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Development

In his response, Governor Abba Yusuf thanked the Emir for his leadership and efforts in fostering peace and unity among the people of Kano State.

“We are thankful to God for sparing us to see this day. It’s a tradition that on a day like this, the Emir, accompanied by his entourage, visits us to pay Sallah homage,” the governor said.

He acknowledged the Emir’s contributions to ensuring peaceful coexistence in the state, particularly his efforts to unite various Islamic sects.

“We appreciate the Emir’s persistent calls against anti-social vices in the state. Our Emir is a leader who genuinely cares for his people. His dedication to bringing together different Islamic sects is a remarkable achievement,” Yusuf stated.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making Kano a model megacity with well-maintained infrastructure.

“Everyone can see our tireless efforts to transform Kano into a megacity with well-maintained streets. I have challenged public office holders to a competition in order to motivate them to perform better for their constituents,” he added.

Governor Yusuf assured the people of Kano that his administration would continue to work towards sustaining peace and improving the quality of life in the state.
