The Katsina State Police Command says no officer was killed during the #EndbadGovernance protest in the state.

In a viral video on social media, a police operative is said to have been killed when a water sprayer ran into another car while dispersing the protesters on Thursday.

However, in a statement on Friday, Abubakar Aliyu, police spokesperson in Katsina, said there was no loss of life during the demonstration in the state.

Aliyu said an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) fell and sustained an injury during the protest.

“No loss of life was recorded throughout Katsina state during the August 1, 2024, nationwide protest,” the statement reads.

“However, there was an incident involving one NSCDC personnel who fell and sustained injury.

“He was rushed to the hospital for medical attention, where he was treated and discharged.

“The video is manipulated and taken out of context, please.”

The police spokesperson urged members of the public to prioritise accuracy and avoid spreading false information.

He added that operatives arrested 50 suspected hoodlums for allegedly vandalising public properties during the protest.
