A former All Progressives Congress House of Representatives candidate, Deji Aboderin, has announced his intention to contest for the Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.

Aboderin, who previously served as an aide to former Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, made this known on Wednesday in Ibadan during a consultation visit to Ward 9 in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area.

He explained that his decision to run is motivated by the need to drive grassroots development and improve the welfare of people in the constituency.

“There’s a lot to be done. They need what’s called enlightenment. They need proper education; kids need to go to school. They need water, good roads, and renovation of schools.

“They need a lot of help. I have been in this game since 2012, and I have done several poverty alleviation projects, including helping with a motorised borehole. So, I’m here in Ward 9 to consult with my people,” Aboderin said.

He stated that his agenda would prioritise poverty reduction and social development initiatives.

Aboderin also expressed support for the policies of Bola Tinubu, particularly reforms in the power sector, which he believes will benefit the country.

The aspirant further claimed that he actually won the 2019 House of Representatives election but lost due to alleged irregularities, which he partly blamed on internal party conflicts.

“I have learned from past mistakes, and that’s the main reason I’m here now to correct the wrongs and to do what’s right. And by His grace, I believe that the party would find me worthy, and once that’s done, we would correct the last mistake that we made.

“It’s not that the opposition won, but we were rigged out. But this time around, we’re ready for what’s coming on board,” he said.

He added that lessons from past experiences have better prepared him for the 2027 contest and called on Nigerians to back Tinubu’s reforms, expressing confidence that they will deliver positive outcomes.
