Former Arise News anchor and House of Representatives aspirant for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Dr Chiogo Constance Ikokwu, has left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Ikokwu made the announcement in a statement titled “A Strategic Realignment for Purposeful Service,” explaining that her decision was influenced by ongoing political shifts and the short time remaining before party primaries nationwide.

She described the move as a difficult choice, especially as a politician from Anambra State, where recent political developments are expected to shape the landscape significantly.

According to her, uncertainty and changing alliances within the political space prompted her to seek a more stable and progressive platform.

“I had to make a quick and tough decision to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) after careful reflection. With the level of uncertainty, shifting alliances, and ongoing realignments across the political space, it is important to find a platform that is stable, forward-looking, and aligned with the vision for meaningful engagement,” she said.

She noted that key members of the political bloc she aligns with had already moved to the NDC, making her decision both timely and necessary.

Ikokwu emphasised that her focus remains on delivering effective representation to her constituency, adding that the move is intended to place her in a better position to turn her commitments into measurable results.

She also reaffirmed her dedication to accountable leadership, people-focused governance, and progress, while appealing for the continued support of her followers as she advances her political ambition.
