A High Court in Kaduna has granted bail to Jimi Lawal, a former adviser to ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and three others accused of fraud.

Lawal, former Kaduna Accountant General Umar Waziri, Yusuf Inuwa, and Solar Life Nigeria Limited were arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) over allegations of diverting N64.8 million in three separate transactions.

The court set bail conditions requiring two sureties, each with N50 million, who must own verifiable landed property in Kaduna. The defendants were also ordered to surrender all passports to the court.

Defence counsel Johnson Usman (SAN) expressed optimism that the bail conditions would be met promptly.

The trial is scheduled for 26th and 27th March 2025.
