Less than 24 hours after stepping down from his role, former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu arrived in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday.
Videos circulating on social media showed him dressed in blue native attire, stepping into a busy road to help control traffic.
He was seen directing vehicles while exchanging greetings with residents and supporters.
The incident reportedly happened shortly after he arrived at Ladoke Akintola International Airport, where a crowd had gathered to welcome him.
Speaking to journalists on arrival, Adelabu reflected on his time in office.
“I have seen, and I have conquered,” he said, “and I believe I have tried my best and contributed my best to the national development and oversee one of the key sectors in Nigeria.”
His return comes shortly after he formally resigned on Tuesday.
In his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu, Adelabu said he was leaving office to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State.
Although he noted that his resignation would take effect on April 30, 2026, to allow for a “smooth transition” in the Ministry of Power, his quick return to Ibadan signals the early start of his political campaign.
