Ex-Osun Dep Gov, Erelu Obada; ACAMB President, Rasheed Bolarinwa, others bag APWEN role model award

The Association of Professional Women Engineers in Nigeria (APWEN), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) on Tuesday conferred Recognition Award as Role Model to a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Erelu Olusola Obada, President of the Association of Corporate & Marketing Communications Professionals in Nigeria Banks (ACAMB), Rasheed Bolarinwa and other distinguished individuals. 

According to APWEN, a body at the forefront of encouraging women to pursue careers in Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), the choice of Bolarinwa who also doubles as Head, Corporate Communications of Polaris Bank and other awardees was based on outstanding career trajectory,
dedication, and commitment to promoting STEM education.

APWEN noted that it has made significant contributions to advancing gender diversity in engineering fields through initiatives such as scholarships sponsored by MENTOR PARTNERS for girls from primary school to university, STEM teachers’ training, industry placements for young female engineers, capacity building programs, coaching, and mentoring.

Other APMEN award recipients are Prof. (Mrs.) Tawakalitu Onifade, Engr. Dideolu Falobi, Engr. (Mrs.) Anthonia Oyebode, Engr. Funmilade Akingbagbohun, Engr. Idowu Bashir Bello, Engr. (Dr.) Mojirade Oloruntoba, Engr. Olalekan Salami.

The award which was presented by Engr. (Dr.) Adebisi Osim, APWEN President was ably received by Badru Asimiyu Olawale, State Chairman, Association Of Mobile Money And Bank Agents in Nigeria (AMMBAN) Osun State chapter on behalf of the ACAMB boss who was unavoidably absent at the ceremony.

The award ceremony which held at Ultimate Civil Centre, Osogbo, the Osun State capital had in attendance notable personalities like the Osun State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole, Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Education, Dr. Mrs Lanlehin, Iyalode of Osogbo, Alhaja Awawu Ashindemade, Professor Gbolabo, Prof. Babalola, NSE President, Dr. Mrs Adekemi, VPs, State Chairmen and Regional Chairmen of APWEN.

Others include professors, dons and engineering professionals. Meanwhile female engineering students of universities, other higher institutions and secondary schools were inducted into the APWEN for mentorship programme.
