EXCLUSIVE: FirstBank secures another first, to build historic 40-storey iconic Headquarters at Eko Atlantic City

FirstBank Nigeria will this morning Wednesday, March 5, 2025 hold a groundbreaking ceremony of its proposed iconic new Headquarters building at Eko Atlantic City in Lagos.

According to the official invitation seen by NewsClick Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu is slated to chair the historic occasion.

The 130-year-old financial institution upon completing the 40-storey edifice, will have the honour of putting up the tallest building in Nigeria and by extension, the West African sub-region.

The tier-1 bank currently operating its Headquarters from Marina, Victoria Island, Lagos is not new to pulling big surprises being one of the strongest bank brand in the country. however, the proposed 40-story building at Eko Atlantic City, is yet another proof of the Bank’s long-term sustainable vision and drive for excellence and continuous success.

Eko Atlantic, is a planned city in Lagos State, Nigeria commercial nerve Centre, being constructed on land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean.

Upon completion, the new peninsula is anticipating at least 250,000 residents and a daily flow of 150,000 commuters. The development is also designed to help in stopping the erosion of Lagos city’s coastline.
