The erudite lawyer and scholar will be contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
NewsClick Nigeria reports that incumbent governor, Adeleke Ademola of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) will round up his term in 2026. While the governor is yet to formally declare his intention to seek reelection, however, quite a number of interest groups have endorsed him.
In a formal declaration message seen by NewsClick Nigeria, the lawyer cum politician said he is seeking a better governed state that prioritizes citizens welfare to the unborn generations.
“I also use this medium to formally inform this great platform that your dear K. Rad is in the race for the governorship contest in 2026.
“This is the time to actualize our dream of making sure that Osun is better governed to the benefit of ourselves and the unborn generations. It is a duty we owe ourselves and our children.
“I therefore call on all our coordinators to remain firm and resolute in achieving this great task. Let us continue the struggle and the future is assured,” the message reads in part.
NewsClick Nigeria reports that this is not Adegoke’s first attempt at becoming the APC guber flagbearer in the state. He was one of the leading aspirant in the buildup to the 2018 Osun APC primary that former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola won. Oyetola was however unsuccessful at his second term bid in 2022 as he was defeated by PDP’s Adeleke.
The former governor was subsequently appointed Minister of Marine and Blue Economy by President Bola Tinubu.
A notable election petition prosecutor, Adegoke has handle a number of high profile electoral cases including that of a former governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, at the state’s election petition tribunal before he was eventually sworn in as governor.
