Family of Taiwo Oyekanmi, a deceased Director of Finance in Governor Dapo Abiodun’s office, are urging for justice concerning the premature passing of their family member.
The family members conveyed this information on Thursday during the governor’s condolence visit.
Oyekanmi, who was on an official assignment, fell victim to armed robbers and was tragically murdered on Wednesday in the Kuto area of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
During the condolence visit, the governor expressed that the government is assuming responsibility for all aspects of the unfortunate incident, including the welfare and well-being of the family.
Governor Abiodun, while offering reassurance to the family and the people of the state, pledged that the individuals responsible for the killing would be apprehended and brought to justice.
In an emotional statement, Abiodun described the late Oyekanmi as a diligent, hardworking, honest, and God-fearing individual.
“We are all heavily burdened, the pain is not describable. He left us asking questions since yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.”
“Let me assure you that we will do everything within my power to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to book.”
As a mark of honour for the deceased, the governor ordered that the flags in the state should be flown at half-mast for a week.
