Fans of Nigerian dancehall artist Cynthia Morgan, also known as Madrina, have set up a GoFundMe campaign to offer her financial support. This comes after an old video showing the singer in a distressed emotional state recently resurfaced online, prompting renewed concern for her well-being.

In the resurfaced Instagram Live video shared by Connecting the Dots Africa (#ctda\_media), which went viral across social media on Friday, the Edo-born singer appeared teary-eyed and deeply frustrated. In the emotional clip, she pleaded with Nigerians to offer her spiritual support instead of financial assistance.

She said,”I am not going to lie, all I need right now is prayers. I need them to pray for me.

“I am not going to say anybody should come and give me money. If you give me money, cool stuff.”

Although the video was recorded over a year ago, it has reignited concern among fans and celebrities, many of whom are now advocating for financial support to help the singer get back on her feet. Shortly after the video gained traction, a fan-initiated GoFundMe page was created. Cynthia Morgan later acknowledged the campaign by sharing the link on her Instagram handle, #trulymadrina.

“Good day, everyone. In continuation of my previous post, here is a snapshot of my GoFundMe page with the link in my bio. Thank you, #queen_zinnyb,” she posted.

In a new video posted on Friday, the former Northside Entertainment signee clarified that the trending video was old and that she is currently in a better place emotionally.

Cynthia said,”Good morning, everyone. God bless you all. There is a video of me making rounds on social media, so I just want to address that. I will like to tell everyone that that video is over a year.

“I will like to let everyone know that I am well. Thank you for your concern. I may not be able to respond to every message”.

She expressed gratitude to the fan who initiated the GoFundMe campaign, noting that she is still in the process of deciding whether to officially approve its public launch.

Cynthia said,”There is a fan of mine that went into the extent of creating a GoFundMe account for me. I’m looking into it to see if I will like the account to go public.

“In 2021, there was a GoFundMe that was opened for me, but unfortunately, the person that was handling it said the account was shut down. So I didn’t get any money from the GoFundMe apart from the money sent to my account.”

Speaking further, the singer disclosed that she has stepped away from music, attributing her decision to past experiences that left her deeply “traumatised.”
