Sheriff Alabi, a fashion designer, was allegedly stabbed to death after a scuffle in Aga-Olowo, Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The event occurred around 11 p.m. on Saturday during a tailoring graduation party in the neighbourhood.

While the party was going on, Alabi and three of his friends, including Gbenga Mufutau, Peter Gbesu, and Samuel Bolarinwa, were alleged to have gotten into a dispute, which resulted in a violent altercation despite efforts by others at the graduation to break up the fight.

While efforts to end the dispute were finally yielding results, Alabi was allegedly stabbed with a shattered dish plate.

The stab reportedly left some deep cuts on Alabi’s nose and upper lips, causing other graduation party attendees to rush him to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he subsequently died a day after the scuffle.

Contacted for confirmation on Monday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said some operatives of the state command in the Ewekoro Area, led by Adelakun Emmanuel, took action immediately by apprehending all the suspects, including the deceased friends who were involved in the fight.

She said, “The deceased was a native of Kajola Village. He had gone to Aga-Olowo for a graduation party of tailors in the area. While the party was ongoing, an argument between the deceased led them into a violent scuffle.

“The deceased allegedly sustained serious injuries during the fight. He was taken to a nearby Femi Clinic in Ago-Olowo, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.

“Everyone involved in the fight has been arrested, and a preliminary investigation is underway. Upon completion, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.”
