Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, has congratulated Atiku Abubakar on winning the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential primary poll conducted last week in Abuja.

Since the presidential election, Fayose has been calm. Governor Nyesom Wike, who came in second in the election, was praised by Fayose for his consistency in action and character.

Fayose, a presidential candidate on the Peoples Democratic Party’s platform, was one of the two candidates who did not receive a single vote.

Atiku was elected as the PDP’s presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, receiving 371 votes to overcome his closest rival, Wike, who received 237 votes.

“To this end, I congratulate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, our flag-bearer, and wish him and our party success in the general election.

“I congratulate former VP Atiku Abubakar over his emergence as the PDP presidential candidate. I also commend Governor Nyesom Wike for remaining consistent in action and character,” he tweeted.

He claimed that the PDP’s political impact would live on in the hearts of Nigerians both inside and beyond the party.

“Big hearts are magnanimous, as you have done. I salute your courage, consistency, and doggedness.”

Atiku had paid visits to Wike, the frontrunner in the presidential primary, as well as former President of the Senate Bukola Saraki and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius.
