The Nnamdi Expressway carriageway and the Area 1 roundabout in the territory would be closed, according to the Federal Capital Development Authority’s management, to allow for the ongoing building of the Interchange.

The FCDA said on Friday that on Saturday, April 23, and Sunday, April 24, 2023, the main lanes and service lanes on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Motorway at the Area 1 roundabout, coming from the Airport, and vice versa, will be closed from 7 am to 6 pm.

The Agency advised residents and drivers to use the other route that the contractor had offered because the shutdown would result in the closure of the roadways to all incoming traffic.

The message also stated that officers of the FCT Vehicle Inspection Office, the Police, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, had been informed of the arrangement, and will be on the ground to assist with traffic control at the roundabout and associated ramps.

While regretting the inconveniences the construction work may cause motorists, the Agency urged residents and motorists to comply with the announcements and directives of the agents charged with maintaining law and order on the roads.
