Federal Judges to commence Yuletide vacation on December 16

Judges of the Federal High Court will begin their 2024 Yuletide vacation on December 16, 2024.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho, the vacation will conclude on Monday, January 6, 2025, with court sittings resuming on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, across all judicial divisions.

This follows the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (C) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).

The circular further clarified that during the vacation, only cases relating to the enforcement of fundamental rights, the arrest or release of vessels, and matters of urgent national interest will be heard by the vacation judges.

Additionally, during the vacation period, only the core judicial divisions—Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt—will remain open and operational to handle litigation.

The roster for vacation judges is as follows – “The Abuja judicial division -Justice  Emeka Nwite and Justice  M. S. Liman will serve as vacation judges.

“LAGOS division Justice  Akintayo Aluko and Justice  Isaac Dipeolu and in Port-Harcourt division -Justice  P. M. Ayua and Justice  A. T.  will serve as vacation judges.”
