FG approves N9.8bn for workers’ life assurance

President Bola Tinubu chaired the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, during which the approval of N9.8 billion for the renewal fees of the Group Life Assurance for Federal Government workers was granted.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed this information following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday.

He informed State House correspondents that the approval was granted based on a memo presented by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan.

The President sanctioned approximately N9.6 billion to engage 12 local insurance firms, ensuring coverage for federal workers in case of unforeseen events during their duties.

“There are about 12 insurance companies involved. It’s a regular annual cover that insurance companies give workers.

“So, in the event of death or severe injury, they can resort to and so that their families would not have to suffer,” Idris explained.
