The Federal Government has commenced the payment of arrears related to the newly approved N77,000 monthly allowance for former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

It will be recalled that in September 2024, the government announced an increase in the monthly stipend for NYSC members from N33,000 to N77,000, in line with the provisions of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act, 2024.

However, the implementation of the revised allowance began in March 2025, resulting in a backlog of payments owed to corps members who completed their service prior to that date and are now eligible for the outstanding balance.

But, despite circulating rumors that these former corps members might miss out on the arrears, the government promised that all qualified corps member will receive their due benefits regardless of their current service status.

Meanwhile, the government seems to have fulfilled its promise of paying the arrears as many of the outgone corps members took to thier handles on social media to share the news.
