The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16th, a public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.
This was announced in a statement on Friday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. The statement noted that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government and extended congratulations to the Muslim community both within Nigeria and abroad.
The minister urged the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience. He also encouraged them to use the occasion to pray for lasting peace and the development of a more prosperous and equitable nation.
