The Federal Government has signed into an N1 billion agreement with the telecommunications company IHS Towers to establish educational communities throughout Nigeria as part of the 3 Million Technical Talent programs.
The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, disclosed the collaboration via his official X account on Monday.
In his announcement, Tijani specified that the N1 billion funding from IHS Towers includes not just financial assistance but also a commitment that extends to cover the salaries of 37 dedicated learning community managers for each site over the next three years.
“I am excited to announce an N1 Billion partnership between the @FMoCDENigeria (the ministry) and @IHSTowers to establish the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Learning Community. This initiative, which is in support of our recently launched 3MTT program, will facilitate the set-up of learning communities in the 36 states and the FCT.”
“The N1 billion funding from IHS Towers also includes a commitment to paying the salaries of 37 dedicated learning community managers for each location for the next 3 years.”
“This is the first in several partnerships that we will be securing in support of our targets, specifically for the 3MTT program and broadly for the Knowledge pillar in our Strategic Blueprint. #3MTT #NigerianExcellence,” the statement read.
According to reports, Dr. Tijani emphasized that the 3MTT program is an integral component of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope initiative.
This program’s primary objective is to cultivate a pool of technical talent, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of generating two million digital jobs by 2025.
Under this initiative, the ministry will identify individuals who have expressed a keen interest in acquiring specific skills and will take care of the associated training costs.
The technical skills encompass Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis and Visualization, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Data Science, Animation, AI/Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Game Development, Cloud Computing, and DevOps.
