Dr. Muhammad Dingyadi, Minister of Police Affairs, delivered the scorecard.

The report read in part, “The North-East, for instance, has a history of Boko Haram campaign against harmless citizens since 2009. These mindless terrorists subsequently sought alliance with the Islamic State for West Africa province.

“Security in the South-East came under severe threat, following violent attacks on security formations and civilians by militant Biafran separatists group.

“Unlike the South-East, the South-South region is relatively free from violent criminalities. However, there are isolated cases of kidnap for ransom and armed robbery, and it’s been dealt with by the police and other security agencies.

“A special task force against oil theft set up by the Inspector-General of Police is operating in the zone, to check illegal bunkering and related acts of economic sabotage.”
