The Nigerian Government has reversed its decision to set the admission age for tertiary institutions at 18 years.
The newly appointed Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, made the announcement during his inaugural press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
The briefing provided an opportunity for the minister to outline his vision, with the key highlight being the decision to reverse the 18-year age limit for admission into tertiary institutions.
The minister stated, “We will work with JAMB and our universities to ensure that students matriculating into our universities will be at least 16 years old.
“So, we will not be proceeding with the 18-year limit; we will revert to the previous standard of 16 years.”
