FG to grant MSMEs quick access to loans – Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has conveyed the Federal Government’s preparedness to facilitate swift access to loans for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.

He delivered this message on Tuesday as part of the commemoration of the 2023 World Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Day.

Shettima additionally called upon all stakeholders to collaborate in promoting the advancement and prosperity of MSMEs, with the ultimate goal of attaining sustainable development in Nigeria.

“On this World MSME Day, the government of President Tinubu recognises the vital role that MSMEs play in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and promoting innovation,” Shettima said.

“We remain committed to providing support, fostering an enabling environment, and improving access to finance for MSMEs, especially in these unprecedented times.

“We urge all stakeholders to come together to champion the growth and success of MSMEs to achieve sustainable development for all,” he said.

The ex-governor of Borno State acknowledged that the Federal Government is aware of the numerous challenges confronting MSMEs due to the recent removal of fuel subsidies.

Nonetheless, the Vice President assured that the government is taking swift action to facilitate prompt access to loans with single-digit interest rates for small businesses in Nigeria. The objective is to expedite the implementation of this measure as soon as possible.

“Please note that the president is your partner and here to make life easier for your businesses. Happy MSMES Day,” he said.
