FG to partner with Qatar to promote culture

Yakubu Ahmed, the Nigerian Ambassador on Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the State of Qatar, has urged for cooperation between the two nations to promote Nigerian culture in Qatar.

The call was made by Ambassador Ahmed on Sunday during a courtesy visit to the office of Prof. Khalid Al Sulaiti, general manager and chairman of the Kiahf Committee of the Katara Cultural Foundation.

The Nigerian Principal Representative informed his Qatari host during a tour of the Katara Cultural Village about Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity, which is reflected in traditional celebrations that include carnivals, boat rides, fishing, dances, songs, horseback riding, and masquerades among various ethnic groups.

He reaffirmed that the mission would look into inviting interested public and private artists and art galleries in Nigeria to exhibit their works and abilities in the Cultural Village in Doha in a statement issued by the ambassador’s office on Monday.

Al Sulaiti, the general manager of Katara, praised the notion of the cooperation in his briefing and urged the embassy to use the cultural village’s facilities to host a number of exhibitions showcasing Nigerian culture. He promised to support any similar events that the Embassy was ready to plan.
