The Federal Government has unveiled 11 major economic and financial reforms implemented between May 2023 and December 2025, saying the measures are intended to tackle longstanding structural problems and create a stronger foundation for sustainable economic growth.

The reforms were presented by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, during a media briefing on the government’s Reform Scorecard.

According to the government, the reforms span critical areas including fiscal policy, taxation, foreign exchange, education, infrastructure, labour, energy and capital markets.

It said the measures were introduced to strengthen public finances, improve revenue generation, attract investments, support businesses and build greater resilience within the Nigerian economy.

The government emphasised that economic reform was not a one-time exercise but an ongoing process that requires difficult decisions, sustained commitment and transparent reporting.

It said progress had been made since the reforms began, while acknowledging that substantial work was still required to achieve the desired outcomes.

“Transparency and accountability remain central to the reform process. Nigerians deserve to understand what is being done, why it is being done, the results being achieved and the challenges that still lie ahead,” the government said.

It added that the reforms were aimed at strengthening the underlying foundations of the economy and creating an environment capable of delivering sustainable prosperity.

As part of an 11-day review of the Reform Scorecard, the government is expected to release detailed information on each of the 11 reforms, including their objectives, implementation progress and impact on the economy and Nigerians.

The initiative is expected to give the public clearer insight into the government’s economic policies, achievements recorded so far and the challenges facing the reform programme.
