Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has taken the measure of imposing a 24-hour curfew on Adamawa State in response to the increasing attacks by hoodlums who have been breaking into warehouses and looting foodstuffs and valuable items.
The decision was announced on Sunday, and it aims to prevent further violence and protect people and businesses from these criminal activities.
According to reports, in 2020, an incident where angry residents looted a government-owned warehouse in Kwana-waya took place.
Following this, they also broke into the Central stores located at Barkin Kogi and looted food items from there as well. The incident likely caused concern and highlighted the need for measures to address such situations.
The governor said, “Effective immediately Sunday, July 30, 2023, I, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, have declared a 24-hour curfew in Adamawa State due to escalating violence by hoodlums attacking people and businesses.
“No movement is allowed, except for essential duties with valid ID. Your safety is our priority – please comply for the well-being of all,” he wrote.
