On Saturday, chaos reigned in Kaduna as a flames engulfed the home of controversial Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.

According to reports, the fire burned the Islamiyya school in the Alimi neighborhood of the city.

The Islamiyya school was also home to the fiery Islamic cleric who was often associated with banditry.

There was dense smoke coming out of the buildings, according to a source who requested anonymity, leading other neighbors in the area to go get water to put out the fire.
“We just saw smoke coming out from one of the classes. We immediately drew the attention of the people around and started fetching water to prevent the fire from reaching to the other buildings,” the source said.
