Fire outbreak claims lives of two children in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed that two children lost their lives in a fire outbreak at Barbuma-Koriyel Village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17. Citing local sources, he explained that the fire was believed to have started while a woman was cooking in her home.

The flames quickly spread to nearby wooden structures, engulfing the entire hamlet. Two children, Dauda Mohammed Shuwa, 8, and Fatima Mohammed Shuwa, 6, were trapped and died in the blaze.

Security personnel responded to the scene and evacuated the victims to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead by medical personnel. Autopsies were carried out, after which the bodies were released to the family for burial.
