Fire razes Rivers State House of Assembly

The Rivers State House of Assembly Complex has caught fire. The fire happened at 10 p.m. on Sunday.

As of the time of filing this story, the compound had been taken over by security personnel from the adjacent Rivers Police Command, and a fire vehicle was also observed on the facility’s grounds.

This comes as rumours of an upcoming impeachment procedure against state Governor Sim Fubara circulate.

Attempts to obtain information from House members have been futile, as the politicians have remained tight-lipped about the supposed conspiracy.

It is unclear if the fire is connected with the political imbroglio, but rumours of a rift between Governor Fubara and his predecessor Nyesom Wike who is now FCT minister have been brewing for some time now.
