A fire outbreak occurred on Thursday at a plank market on Pipeline Street in the Ikotun area of Lagos State, destroying a section of the market.
In a statement, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that the fire affected only four shops.
He attributed the containment of the blaze to the swift response of LASEMA’s Dolphin Response Team from Igando and the effective coordination of other responders, which prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the cause of the fire was yet to be determined at the time of reporting. He also confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries.
Earlier in the day, another fire was reported at the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO) office in Oshodi.
According to LASEMA, the fire was caused by an overheated generator. It was quickly contained, with no loss of life or injuries reported.
