First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has been honoured with the traditional title of Oso Di Eme I of Imo State.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady’s Senior Special Adviser on Media, through a statement accompanied by photographs from the ceremony on her X handle.
Kukoyi explained that the title, which she translated as “she who supports her husband,” recognises the First Lady’s role as a partner to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the administration of the country.
She wrote: “Oso Di Eme I of Imo State, meaning ‘She who supports her husband.’ A worthy partner of her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. As he’s working, she is working.”
Photographs released by the aide showed the First Lady dressed in colourful traditional attire decorated with APC symbols and Nigerian flag motifs.
She was also pictured wearing a red headwrap and coral beads while holding a ceremonial fan inscribed “OSO DI EME” and a white horsetail flywhisk.
The conferment took place during Mrs Tinubu’s visit to Imo State, where she was welcomed by traditional rulers.
The honour comes a few months after she received the chieftaincy title of Ugosimba I of Enugu in June 2026.
The Enugu title, which translates as “Jewel of Empowerment” in Igbo, was conferred in recognition of her efforts towards women’s empowerment and social development across Nigeria.
