Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, have apprehended five vigilantes after an accidental gun discharge resulted in the death of a teenage girl in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The individuals arrested were identified as Muhammad Husaini (28), Abba Jiddu (25), Abba Kolo Mohammed (20), Ali Adam (20), and Nura Mohammed (18).
The spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
He explained that the incident happened around 2:00 p.m. on April 4 in the Ngomari area, where vigilantes linked to a Local Government chairman were firing shots into the air during a wedding celebration at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Teachers’ Staff Quarters.
“The reckless act led to the death of a young girl,” Uba said.
