A heavy downpour has severed a third federal road in Yobe State, cutting off access between Damaturu and the Gujba and Gulani Local Government Areas, as well as Biu, Hawul, Shani, Kwaya Kusar, and Gombi in Borno and Adamawa states.

The incident occurred early Tuesday near Katarko village, about 20 kilometers from Damaturu, the state capital.

Mustapha Babagana, a traveler on a business trip to Biu, told media that he had to turn back to Damaturu and take an alternative route through Gombe State, a detour of 380 kilometers, to reach his destination.

This situation has severely impacted residents, as 11 out of the 17 local government areas in Yobe State are now cut off from the capital, Damaturu, following the collapse of bridges on the Potiskum-Gashua, Damaturu-Dapchi, and Damaturu-Buni Yadi roads.
