The Federal Ministry of Works has instructed the contractor responsible for rehabilitating the Potiskum-Gashua federal road in Yobe State to implement immediate temporary measures on the damaged section that was affected by heavy flooding.
Engineer Abdurahaman Bukar, the Acting Controller of Works in the state, visited the site and emphasized that the Potiskum-Gashua road is a crucial economic route for the region.
“We realised the hardship faced by motorists along this road that was cut off recently. We have directed the J.R.B Construction company that is handling the rehabilitation of the road to immediately provide temporary measures that would allow movement of individuals and their goods”
“Already the 150-kilometer Potiskum-Gashua road has been awarded to two companies for rehabilitation. J.R.B Construction company is handling section 1, from Potiskum to Fani in Jakusko local government area while Rocks Seed Construction is handling section 2, from Fani to Gashua”.
The Controller of Works calls on the motorists “to exercise patience, as the government is doing everything possible to ensure the damaged portion of the road is repaired while the complete rehabilitation will soon commence” he said.
