A former chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Jigawa State, Ado Kiri, has officially resigned from the party.

Kiri, who previously served in the House of Representatives representing the Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency from 2019 to 2023, disclosed his decision in a resignation letter dated March 30, 2026, and addressed to the Kiri Ward chairman, Malam Saliku Mujtapha.

In the letter obtained by our correspondent on Friday, the ex-lawmaker explained that his decision came after deep reflection, noting that it was time to withdraw from party activities.

“This decision has been made after careful consideration,” he stated, while expressing appreciation for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the party during his period of membership.

“I appreciate the opportunity given to me to be part of the party and to contribute, in my own capacity, to its activities and objectives during my period of membership,” he added.

Kiri’s departure has already stirred reactions within political circles in Jigawa State, considering his role in establishing the APC structure in the state and his influence during the 2015 general elections and beyond.

However, his resignation letter did not indicate any plans to join another political party, further fueling speculation about his next political step.

He also confirmed his complete withdrawal from party affairs, leaving supporters and stakeholders uncertain whether the move represents a political break or a strategic pause.

Efforts to reach Kiri for further comments were unsuccessful, as calls to his known phone number were not answered.

Political observers say his exit could impact the APC’s internal unity and political strength in Jigawa State ahead of future elections.
