The Federal Road Safety Corps has elevated 120 senior officers to higher ranks as part of efforts to boost leadership capacity and improve institutional performance.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the Acting Corps Public Education Officer, Felicia Kalu.

Kalu noted that the promotions, approved by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, took effect from January 1, 2026. She added that the exercise represents another step toward building a highly motivated, disciplined, and result-oriented workforce dedicated to saving lives on Nigerian roads.

“A breakdown of the exercise shows that 19 officers were elevated to the rank of Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM), 55 Deputy Corps Commanders (DCC) promoted to Corps Commander (CC).

“Others are 46 Assistant Corps Commanders (ACC) advanced to Deputy Corps Commander (DCC),” she said.

According to the spokesperson, the promotions recognise the officers’ outstanding service records, leadership qualities, and consistent contributions to the growth of the Corps.

Reacting, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, congratulated the affected officers, describing the exercise as a reflection of the Corps’ dedication to excellence, discipline, and structured career advancement.

He urged the newly promoted officers to justify the confidence placed in them by exhibiting greater commitment, leadership, and professionalism in their duties.

He also stressed that promotion should not be viewed merely as a reward but as a call to higher responsibility, encouraging them to use their experience to advance the Corps’ mandate of reducing road traffic crashes and ensuring safer roads nationwide.

The Corps Marshal further directed that the officers should not wear their new ranks until they are formally decorated, in line with established procedures.
