In the midst of Rivers State’s political crisis over the conspiracy to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara, elder statesman Chief Edwin Clark has called President Bola Tinubu to summon the governor of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Clark, a leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), told media at a conference in Abuja on Monday that the issue gripping the Rivers State House of Assembly could be traced back to Wike, the state’s governor from May 2015 to May 2023.
The Niger Delta elder statesman added that Wike should give peace a chance in Rivers State after ruling the oil-rich state as a governor for eight years.
Newsclick Nigeria had reported that confusion rocked the Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday as the lawmakers launched an impeachment proceeding against Fubara.
The House also removed its leader, Edison Ehie for alleged supervision of the burning of the Assembly Complex on Sunday night.
The governor is accused of acts of gross misconduct unbecoming of his office.
