Supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara have expressed optimism that he will soon be recalled and reinstated, stating their belief that President Bola Tinubu is a democrat acting in the best interests of Rivers State.
Their sentiments were shared during an Easter praise session organised by the Simplified Movement, which took place simultaneously across all 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
The sessions, filled with singing, dancing, and communal prayers, served both as a spiritual celebration and a moment of reflection and encouragement for members of the movement.
Speaking at the gathering in Ahoada, a leader of the Simplified Movement, Stephen Ihua-Maduenyi, said: “As you well know, today is Easter Sunday. Our Lord, our Father, Jesus Christ, is risen.
“We are here to celebrate that. We are here to call on Him to celebrate us, just as He celebrated mankind—that He may make it possible for our Governor to return. We believe He can do it for us. Only He can. It is not by our power, but by His. That is why we are gathered.”
Ovy Chukwuma, the suspended Commissioner for Education, also spoke to Channels Television, drawing a parallel between the resurrection story and the present political situation in the state.
“They tried to bury us in Rivers State, but we are here to tell the world that we are alive. That Rivers State is alive. That Rivers State stands with Governor Siminalayi Fubara,” he said.
Both speakers expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s judgement, saying his ongoing efforts would ultimately benefit the state and lead to Fubara’s reinstatement.
Despite current challenges, supporters of the movement say they remain hopeful that Rivers State will soon enjoy stability and political harmony.
