The All Progressives Congress (APC) has wrapped up its 8th national convention in Abuja, reaffirming Nentawe Yilwatda as national chairman and Ajibola Basiru as national secretary.

Delegates at the Eagle Square gathering also constituted a new national working committee (NWC) through a consensus arrangement endorsed by party stakeholders.

Ben Nwoye emerged as deputy national chairman (south), replacing Emma Eneukwu, following internal consultations.

Sources within the party indicated that the decision was shaped by zoning considerations and negotiations among party leaders, with Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu state, playing a key role in facilitating Nwoye’s emergence.

In his acceptance speech, Yilwatda described his re-election as a renewed call to service and pledged to foster unity within the party.

“We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation,” he said.

He further assured members that the new leadership would not “fail or falter” in delivering on its mandate.

President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, governors, members of the national assembly, and other party leaders attended the convention.
