Full list of justices to preside over Presidential tribunal

Five political parties and their candidates have each challenged the results of the presidential election held on February 25 on the grounds that the Independent National Electoral Commission’s rules and the electoral laws were not followed.

The Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Haruna Tsammani, Justice Stephen Adah of the Court of Appeal Asaba division, Justice Misitura Bolaji-Yusuf of the Court of Appeal, also of the Asaba Division, Justice Boloukuoromo Ugoh of the Kano division, and Justice Abba Mohammed of the Ibadan Court of Appeal are the justices who will preside over the petition as the Presidential Petition Court gets ready today.

Before the court adjourned, the five-member justice panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, the PEPC’s presiding justice, assured that just will be served.

Justice Tsammani said, “We are determined to look at the matter dispassionately and give justice to whoever deserves justice.”

He said they would consider the substance of each case over technicalities so that ” whoever leaves here will be satisfied that justice has been done.”

He cautioned parties against making irrational requests that would stall the legal process.

The presiding judge also stated that the fourth and fifth petitions “can take off tomorrow,” while the first three petitions will be reviewed during the pre-hearing today.

The Action Alliance Party and its presidential candidate Solomon Okanigbuan submitted them under CA/PEPC/01/2023; the Action People’s Party filed them under CA/PEPC/02/2023 as the lone petitioner; and the Labour Party filed them under CA/PEP/03/2023.

Until the pre-hearing is over, he stated that the cases would be switched about.

” Then we will alternate until we finish the pre-hearing.”

The court will resume sitting by 10:30am.
