The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has offered his condolences to the family of the deceased former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’Abba.

The 65-year-old politician reportedly passed away in Abuja on Wednesday morning.

Family sources revealed that the late 8th Speaker of the House of Representatives had been grappling with an undisclosed ailment for an extended period before his demise.

In a tribute released by his Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje characterized Na’Abba as a dedicated politician and legislator with sincere intentions for the country.

He also reminisced about the crucial role undertaken by the former member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party when he served as the Speaker. Na’Abba played a significant role in solidifying the independence of the legislative branch of government, even when faced with provocations from the executive arm.

“His rich experiences and doggedness even when faced with the risk of impeachment were contributory to whatever achievements we recorded at the National Assembly today. He diligently served Nigeria. His wit, intellect, diligence and warm personality were legendary,” he stated.

Furthermore, Ganduje extended his prayers, asking Allah to bestow Na’Abba with Aljana Firdaus and provide the entire family, the people of Kano State, and all Nigerians with the strength to cope with his loss.

Meanwhile, there are indications that the former Speaker’s remains will be laid to rest in Abuja later on Wednesday, following Islamic burial customs.
