Chairman Oyo State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), Isaac Omodewu, yesterday, clarified that the National Chairman of the party, Umar Ganduje, received applause contrary to the speculation that he was assaulted during his visit to Ibadan on Tuesday.

In a statement signed by the state’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the party characterized the formal visit of the former Kano State governor as both fruitful and noteworthy.

“Fifth columnists spreading the unfounded rumor of any attacks or harassment during the visit should bury their heads in shame.

“Oyo APC expressed gratitude to both Ganduje and the new National Secretary of the party, Ajibola Bashiru, for making Oyo one of the first states to be visited upon their assumption of office.

“The kind of warm reception accorded the former governor of Kano State and his team indicated that the state chapter has confidence in the new leadership of the party at the center. It was dancing and cheering galore as it showed on the faces of all the people in the entourage of the national chairman that they were in love with Oyo APC. And to cap it all, Ganduje described the gift of talking drum presented to him as the best he got in recent times.”

He conveyed gratitude to state party leaders including Chief Moses Adeyemo, Rauf Olaniyan, Sen. Kola Balogun, Chief Akin Oke, and Adebayo Shittu, who initially defected to the Accord Party but later rejoined, for coming together to greet the visiting delegation.
