Ganduje’s aide defects to Shekarau’s APC faction
Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on State Affairs, Mohammad Shehu, has joined Senator Ibrahim Shekarau-led faction of the party.
Shehu, a former vice chairman of APC, dumped Ganduje alongside hundreds of his supporters for the new G-7 of APC at a time the Ganduje faction chaired by Abdullahi Abbas is struggling with litigation to retain the party’s structure.
The latest defection came when the Commissioner for Local Government and strong confidant of the governor, Sule Garo, led the 44 chairmen of local councils in the state on special homage to opposition leader and founder of Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso, at his Miller road mansion.
Speaking on the reason for abandoning his boss, the former vice chairman of Nasarawa Local Council told journalists that it was based on personal conviction and the success recorded by the senator representing Kano North, Barau Jibrin.
Lamenting unfair treatment on him and his supporters, Shehu regretted that despite the large number of APC members in Nasarawa Local Council, the constituency is still struggling for recognition under Ganduje’s APC leadership.
“We have resolved to renew support for Senator Barau Jibril in the next general election because we find in him true leadership and the credibility not in doubt. Let me also tell you that we are not alone in this journey,” he added.
