Hundreds of demonstrators staged a peaceful protest on Monday in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, urging President Bola Tinubu to tackle the challenges of insecurity and hunger prevailing in the country.

Expressing their discontent with the current state of affairs in Nigeria, the predominantly youthful protesters are insisting on tangible actions from the government.

They carried placards displaying messages like ; “Garri is now #1200, Tinubu why?” and “Hunger is Killing Us.”

The demonstrators voiced their worries regarding the exorbitant cost of living, emphasizing that it has become increasingly challenging for individuals to meet their basic needs.

The protest occurs amid a backdrop of numerous security challenges in Nigeria, encompassing kidnappings, banditry, and assaults by terrorist groups. Additionally, the demonstrators highlighted the soaring prices of food, posing considerable challenges for numerous Nigerians in providing sustenance for their families.

The demonstrators aim to capture the focus of both Tinubu and the government through their protest, shedding light on these urgent concerns. Furthermore, they urge the government to take substantial measures to alleviate the hardships faced by the people and enhance the overall economic conditions of the country.

While the protest has remained peaceful thus far, there is apprehension that it may escalate into violence if the government fails to address the demands, given the deployment of security personnel at key locations.
