Generation Beta, the next cohort following Generation Alpha, is set to begin in 2025, according to the Daily Mail on Wednesday.
Sociologist Mark McCrindle, credited with defining prior generational labels, states that Generation Beta will encompass those born from 2025 to 2039.
Generation Alpha, which includes individuals born between 2010 and 2024, will conclude with the emergence of Generation Beta.
By 2035, Generation Beta is projected to comprise 16% of the global population, with many expected to live into the 22nd century.
McCrindle highlights how technological integration will define this generation:
“Generation Beta will likely be the first to experience widespread autonomous transport, wearable health tech, and immersive virtual environments as part of daily life.”
The generation will also face significant challenges, including climate change and shifting societal norms, while benefiting from advancing technologies.
The concept of generational labelling gained traction in the mid-20th century, starting with the post-war “Baby Boom” cohort. Researchers like Neil Howe and William Strauss later developed the naming system further, tying generational identities to historical and cultural milestones.
Preceding Generation Beta are the Builders (1925–1945), Boomers (1946–1964), Generation X (1965–1979), Millennials (1980–1994), Generation Z (1995–2009), and Generation Alpha (2010–2024).
