German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has arrived in Nigeria, landing in the country on Tuesday night.
He was welcomed at the presidential wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
President Steinmeier’s visit to Nigeria, which will run until 12 December 2024, includes a series of engagements, such as meetings with President Bola Tinubu and the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, Alieu Omar Touray, among others.
Following his engagements in Abuja, the German President will travel to Lagos, where he is set to meet with business representatives, visit a start-up hub, and interact with figures from Nigeria’s cultural sector and civil society, including Dr Nike Okundaye and Professor Wole Soyinka.
His visit to Lagos will also feature a tour of the city to explore its urban development as a megacity, including discussions on its environmental and social challenges.
