A man who claimed to be the boyfriend of Vwaere Diaso, the medical doctor who died in an elevator accident in a Lagos hospital, has taken to social media to lament bitterly about her demise.

On Tuesday, Diaso died after an elevator at the General Hospital in Lagos Island, which she was in, fell from the 10th floor.

The doctor’s demise has continued to attract widespread outrage on social media platforms, with many Nigerians accusing the hospital’s management of negligence.

A few hours before news of Diaso’s death became public, the Twitter user (@stball_) had expressed his obsession with her.

In a flurry of tweets, however, the user said he is devastated and in intense sorrow by the news of her death.

Although he did not mention her name, the man said he had planned to spend the rest of his life with her.

“One minute you are talking about how obsessed you are with her, another minutes you’re hearing she passed away. I hate this life,” he wrote.

“This can’t be true. This is too much for me to handle and you know there has never been a time I thought about my future that I didn’t think of her right beside me. it just doesn’t make sense, what is the point of living when the one person that gave me reason to live is not with me?

“I can’t even sleep. at least if I sleep, I will be able to wake up from this bad dream. this is torture.

“God should have killed me instead.”

The tweets have generated massive engagement as many users continue to express their condolences.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Medical Association earlier directed its members in the government hospitals on Lagos Island to embark on an indefinite strike over Diaso’s death.
